Happy National Nurses Week!

National University - Fresno Campus kicked off National Nurses Week with a little donut and coffee social for their future nurses.  The students came together and got to know each other, eat some sweet treats, and snatch up some awesome NU swag.  How awesome are those NU tumblers?

National University - Rancho Bernardo Campus celebrated Nurses Week by getting together, eating pizza, playing nurse trivia, and winning small gifts!  Over 100 students joined in on the fun and were able to partake in the pizza that was generously donated by Little Cesar's.

Did you know…..

  • National Nurses Week begins every year on May 6th and end on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
  • As of 1998, May 8th was designated as National Student Nurses Day.
  • Check out a brief history of National Nurse’s Week here.

Go out and wish your favorite nurse a Happy Nurses Week!

NUSNA Goes Big in Texas

There is a saying that, “Everything is bigger in Texas” and that is certainly true about the reputation of the National University Student Nurses Association.  Five delegates, recently, flew to Dallas, Texas to represent NUSNA and National University at the 2017 National Student Nurses Association Convention.  Stephanie Fraenzl, NUSNA President, was approached by several convention attendees to ask about the operations and successes of the National University association.  The President of the California Student Nurses Association was even overheard directing students to our delegates saying, “Ask them how they do that, they have a great association.”

NUSNA was nationally recognized twice at the convention.  First, they were honored with an award for their newsletter, The Pulse.  Check out the newsletter here.  Secondly, they were recognized for their monthly community event, Shower of Blessings.  Learn more about participating in this community event here!

SHHS Student Research Fellowship

The National University Library launched a pilot project through the Center of Excellence that created an opportunity for the librarians to host student research fellows.

Hi, my name is Sarah and I was hired as the first ever Student Research Fellow.  It has been one of the best experiences I've ever had because I have learned so much and have been given opportunities that have provided me a competitive edge moving forward into my career path.  This experience allowed me to work directly with faculty to do research and submit a manuscript for publishing.  Also, I was able to apply my new research skills in all the classes I took while I was a fellow, resulting in straight A's in all of my courses.  My time, here at the library, is coming to an end as I am getting ready to ship out for Army basic training but I will carry this experience with me forever.

Below is a video about my experience here at the National University Library as a fellow.
