On April 5th, a dozen MHA students and Dr.
Stephen Bowman journeyed to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla to meet
one-on-one with the top brass. In an executive session, students met with Gary
Fybel, CEO and Sandy Hughes, Executive Director for Human Resources to explore
career pathways and develop connections and networks for future internships,
residencies and career management positions. This is the first in a series of
CEO meetings sponsored by the NU MHA student association.
There is a saying that, “Everything is bigger in Texas” and that is certainly true about the reputation of the National University Student Nurses Association. Five delegates, recently, flew to Dallas, Texas to represent NUSNA and National University at the 2017 National Student Nurses Association Convention. Stephanie Fraenzl, NUSNA President, was approached by several convention attendees to ask about the operations and successes of the National University association. The President of the California Student Nurses Association was even overheard directing students to our delegates saying, “Ask them how they do that, they have a great association.”
NUSNA was nationally recognized twice at the convention. First, they were honored with an award for their newsletter, The Pulse. Check out the newsletter here. Secondly, they were recognized for their monthly community event, Shower of Blessings. Learn more about participating in this community event here!
