Nursing Department to Induct First Class of Honor Students
The Nursing department is fulfilling its journey to bring
scholarship, research and ultimately stature to National University. It has long been the goal for Nursing at NU
to preside over its own chapter of the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau
International (STTI) Honor Society nursing. The
journey begins when Nursing develops and implements a student nurses honor
society . By following closely the bylaws and guidance of STTI headquarters we
must maintain a full honor society for one year before requesting chapter status.
We began this process in February and will be welcoming our
first group of inductees in the honor society this Friday, June 29th.
The inductees consist of students who have achieved at least a 3.00 GPA as well
as demonstrated a commitment to community, academic excellence and nursing
scholarship. Membership is open to nursing faculty and alumni.
There will be 45 new inductees from the Rancho Bernardo
Campus and 25 from the Los Angeles and Fresno campuses. This represents a significant step in the life
of the department and for the university. On the tails of the approval our
first doctorate program, Sigma Theta Tau
will bring a commitment to nursing scholarship, research and excellence
recognized world wide.
