SHHS Professor Wins the 2016 Jerry C. Lee Award!

The School of Health and Human Services (SHHS) Department of Health Sciences Professor Patric Schiltz is this year's recipient of the prestigious Dr. Jerry C. Lee Outstanding Faculty Service Award. Dr. Lee was the long time Chancellor at National University and each year the award is given in his honor by the Faculty Senate to a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional service to the university. Dr. Schiltz is currently serving as Vice-Chair of the Faculty Senate after serving as Secretary last year. His numerous services achievements include serving as the founding chair of the Health Sciences department, various committee work, and his recording and reporting of the faculty negotiations this past year. Dr. Schiltz received the award at the Fall Assembly last month at the closing luncheon.

Health Science Faculty Member is a Finalist at the 2017 Athena Pinnacle Awards!

Health Sciences Clinical Assistant Professor Linda Travis Macomber was honored on May 4th by Athena, a San Diego-based business organization championing women executives and rising managers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Athena's Pinnacle Awards are held each year in the spring to recognize extraordinary individuals and organizations who have shown dedication to in promoting Athena's mission of fostering the personal and professional growth of women through mentoring, education, recognition, and leadership training. Professor Macomber was recognized in the category of Education. Under Linda's leadership, her Master of Science in Health Informatics program was recently recognized as one of the top 25 online Health Informatics programs in the country according to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). 2018 Planetree Conference Featured SHHS Faculty, Staff & Students!

Dozens of faculty, students and staff presented their latest person-centered healthcare research at the 2018 Planetree Conference in Boston last month. The Planetree organization was founded 40 years ago as a patient-centered care revolution when Angie Thieriot demanded on behalf of all patients that healthcare organizations meet individuals’ human need for respect, control and warm and supportive care. National University was front and center with a booth at the conference and several presentations and posters. The School of Health and Services ( SHHS ) showcased its programs as the world’s only Planetree certified University ! SHHS students assisted with the conference sessions and presented posters on Person Centered and student driven student committees . The event week featured an all SHHS dinner at the Copley Center hosted by Dean Dr. Gloria McNeal that celebrated all our hard work and success at the conference.
