Faculty Begin the Journey of Earning the First Ever Planetree Designation for a University

SHHS faculty came together at their annual school retreat in March to begin the work of becoming the first Planetree designated University.  The faculty were joined by administration, staff and students in talks and workshops facilitated by Health Sciences Professor Ellen Kaye Gehrke with members of the Planetree executive team (Randy Carter, Senior Vice-President and Tracy Walsh,  Experience Advisor).  Preliminary reports of a gap analysis completed in February were presented and several successful team building exercises were given.  The media has picked up the story here.  Stay tuned for more announcements and updates on this important project as National University's School of Health and Human Services works to transform how we train health care professionals!

The National University Library launched a pilot project through the Center of Excellence that created an opportunity for the librarians to host student research fellows. SHHS Professor Wins the 2016 Jerry C. Lee Award!

Dr. Schiltz poses with his award at the September 2016 Fall Assembly. The School of Health and Human Services (SHHS) Department of Health Sciences Professor Patric Schiltz is this year's recipient of the prestigious Dr. Jerry C. Lee Outstanding Faculty Service Award.  Dr. Lee was the long time Chancellor at National University and each year the award is given in his honor by the Faculty Senate to a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional service to the university.  Dr. Schiltz is currently serving as Vice-Chair of the Faculty Senate after serving as Secretary last year. His numerous services achievements include serving as the founding chair of the Health Sciences department, various committee work, and his recording and reporting of the faculty negotiations this past year.  Dr. Schiltz received the award at the Fall Assembly last month at the closing luncheon.

Health Science Faculty Member is a Finalist at the 2017 Athena Pinnacle Awards!

Health Sciences Clinical Assistant Professor Linda Travis Macomber was honored on May 4th by Athena, a San Diego-based business organization championing women executives and rising managers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).  Athena's Pinnacle Awards are held each year in the spring to recognize extraordinary individuals and organizations who have shown dedication to in promoting Athena's mission of fostering the personal and professional growth of women through mentoring, education, recognition, and leadership training.
