Employment after military service, in particular after stressful deployment experiences, is a concern for many veterans and policymakers. Among this large cohort of veterans, we found that prior deployment and PTSD were not significantly associated with job status post-service; in contrast, depression, panic/anxiety disorder, and poor physical health increased the risk of unemployment among certain groups. These findings may guide policy for veterans most in need of post-military employment support.

2018 Planetree Conference Featured SHHS Faculty, Staff & Students!

Dozens of faculty, students and staff presented their latest person-centered healthcare research at the 2018 Planetree Conference in Boston last month. The Planetree organization was founded 40 years ago as a patient-centered care revolution when Angie Thieriot demanded on behalf of all patients that healthcare organizations meet individuals’ human need for respect, control and warm and supportive care. National University was front and center with a booth at the conference and several presentations and posters. The School of Health and Services ( SHHS ) showcased its programs as the world’s only Planetree certified University ! SHHS students assisted with the conference sessions and presented posters on Person Centered and student driven student committees .
